From steam to diesel

On the engine deck in DieselHouse stands what was once the largest diesel engine in the world. The engine stands several floors tall, as it has done since 1933, when it was com-missioned as a peak demand and back-up plant for the remainder of H.C. Ørsted Værket. Today, it is disconnected but still operational.

Around the large engine, the history is told about how the diesel engine supercedes the steam engine around 1900. Here you may see different steam engines and the first diesel engine delivered by B&W in 1904. It has been refurbished and made operational for the opening of DieselHouse after more than 60 years of standstill.
